Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon this is John Lindsay with just the cattle market to report on this week out of Dubbo, due to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. It was a larger yarding of up to 2000 on the back of a rain affected market last week. Most categories were well represented for the number yarded, on what was a very strong market remaining firm to 10 cents dearer, particularly on trade kill cattle, with feeder and restocker cattle in high demand due to some very good quality lines offered this week.
Vealer steers – mainly to restockers 560 to 679 cents. Yearling steers under 400kg to processors 450 to 510 cents, with feeder drafts 443 to 512 cents, with restocker drafts 400 to 521 cents. Heavier drafts over 400kg to feed – 429 to 503 cents with kill drafts 380 to 490 cents. Yearling heifers up to 400kg to kill - 464 to 518 cents, with feeder drafts 460 to 477 cents. Heavier drafts over 400kg to kill 408 to 488 cents, with feeder drafts 416 to 472 cents.
Into export sales, with young bullocks 396 to 425 cents, with older drafts and mainly being 4 tooths 350 to 390 cents. Onto cows which were shorter supplied this week, with medium weight cows 288 to 312 cents, with heavy high yielding cows seeing sales between 300 and 315 and this week topping at 327 cents.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –
Firstly, locally for Paul & Carmel Quinn of “Caroo” at Dubbo, who sold Charolais cross feeder steers that weighed 460kg, they made 446 cents and these top steers came back at $2065.
The Grattan Family sold feeder Angus steers for 494 cents, they weighed 395kg and these top steers came back at $1945.
For a local vendor, Angus feeder steers that weighed 395kg for 510 cents to the feeders and these top steers came back at $2010, while some young Red Angus steers on the same truck that weighed 315kg made 576 cents to backgrounders and they came back at $1810.
At Baradine for Warick Worrell, who sold well bred young Angus steers to feedlotters that weighed 345kg for 512 cents and they came back at $1760.
While for The Robbins Family of “Hadleigh Downs” at Condobolin, who sold trade weight Angus cross heifers that weighed 390kg for 490 cents to the kill and they came back at $1910.
