Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon this is Matthew Weber with the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the last week of May 2021. Tallied numbers this week included –
2400 fat cattle
14000 lambs and
4000 mutton
Into the cattle pens firstly, where the market in general was firm to 5 cents dearer. Trade weight steers to the butchers were well supplied, making between 436 to 480 cents, with the heifer portion selling to a top of 478 cents. Feeder steers were well supplied, with most well bred feeders making from 425 to 476 cents. Heavy steers and bullocks were up to 5 cents dearer, with most young bullocks making from 405 to 428 cents, with the aged bullocks selling to a top of 393 cents.
Cows remained fully firm on last week’s strong rates, with heavy cows reaching a top of 320 cents. Medium weight cows made between 280 and 302 cents. The best heavy bull sold to a top of 316 cents.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –
Mark Young of “Narranvale” at Coolah, sold heavy Angus cows for 315 cents, they weighed 700kg and these good clean cows returned $2205.
The Atkinson Family of “Wonga” at Yeoval, sold heavy Santa steers to the feedlotters for 449 cents, they weighed 485kg to come back at $2182.
Out of the Geurie district now for The Johnston Family of “Komoora”, who sold Shorthorn cross steers for 451 cents, they weighed 450kg and these well bred steers returned $2030.
McKenna & Darcy Weber of “The Pines”, sold light weight Brahman calves – off their mothers, to the restockers for 502 cents, they weighed 236kg or $1185.
Jim & Abigail McLaughlin of “Merryanbone North” at Warren, sold heavy Limousin cross steers for 407 cents, they weighed 570kg to come back at $2321.
And for The Robinson Family of “Ellerslie” at Enngonia, who sold heavy aged bullocks for a sale topping 393 cents, they weighed 713kg and these very well finished bullocks returned $2804.
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now, where a good quality yarding met a slightly stronger market. Most grades were firm to $4 dearer.
Light crossbred lambs made from $132 to $160
Medium weight crossbred lambs made from $159 to $185
Heavy crossbred lambs made from $188 to $226
With extra heavies selling to a top of $265
Light Merino lambs made from $112 to $155
Medium weight Merino lambs made from $158 to $180
Heavy Merino lambs made from $180 to $190
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following lambs for their clients –
Phillip & Debra Bell of “Barney’s” at Mendooran, sold medium weight Dorper lambs in a 3 score condition for $190.
The Whillock Family of “Maxland” at Geurie, sold heavy 2nd cross lambs in a 3 score condition, with a ½ inch skin for $225.
Craig & Kerry Walters of “Plain Creek” at Wongarbon, sold heavy 2nd cross lambs in a 3 score condition, with a ½ inch skin for $233.
The Smith Family of “Kurrajong Park” at Narromine, sold heavy 2nd cross lambs in a 3 score condition with a 1 inch skin for $240.
Out of the Nyngan district now for The Herbert Family of “Lynjoy”, who sold medium weight crossbred lambs in a 3 score condition, with a ½ inch skin for $196.
Peter & Debbie Pearce of “Gollenfield”, sold medium weight crossbred lambs in a 3 score condition, with a ½ inch skin for $200.
The Ward Family of “Thorndale”, sold medium weight Merino lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 1 ½ inch skin and these good lambs returned $190.
And for Michael & Jocelyn Hoare of “Bel-Air”, who sold SAMM wether lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 2 month skin for $220.
Across to the mutton pens now, where it was a very mixed quality yarding on offer this week, with most grades being $3 to $8 dearer, with all regular buyers very active in the market place.
Light ewes made from $115 to $130
Medium weight ewes made from $128 to $180
Heavy ewes made from $185 to $249
Light wethers made from $156 to $168
Medium weight wethers made from $150 to $206
Heavy wethers made from $190 to $250
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following mutton for their clients –
Bruce & Margaret McConnaughty of “Elstow” at Baradine, sold medium weight Merino ewes in a 3 score condition, with a 1 inch skin for $165.
Barry O’Brien of “Warrengunyah” at Wellington, sold heavy crossbred ewes in a 3 score condition, 3 weeks off the board for $202.
And for The Whillock Family of “Maxland” at Geurie, who sold CFA 1st cross ewes in a 3 & 4 score condition, with a 1 ½ inch skin for $213.
