Fat Cattle Report

Good afternoon this is Matt Weber with the weekly livestock report for the 3rd week of April, 2021.   Tallied numbers this week included -

 2260 fat cattle
15180 lambs  
3590 mutton with no store cattle sale conducted this week.

Into the cattle pens firstly were a good quality yarding of cattle came forward this week. Most grades remained firm on last week’s strong rates.  Trade steers to the butchers made from 450 to 494 cents with the heifer portion selling to a top of 486 cents.  Heavy feeder steers made from 420 to 482 cents.  Light feeder steers sold to a top of 571 cents.  Feeder heifers eased by 5 cents with most sales making between 405 and 456 cents.

Heavy steers and bullocks made 360 to 400 cents.  Prime heavy heifers sold to a top of 385 cents.  Heavy D4 cows made from 285 to 315 cents, medium weight D3 cows made between 258 and 296 cents.  Best heavy bull sold to a top of 319 cents.

Carter Lindsay and Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –

Out of the Baradine district firstly, for Toni Matthews of “Red Hill”, who sold Angus steers for 526 cents, they weighed 328kg to return $1729.

Darren Beveridge of “Gleneve”, sold light Angus heifers to the restockers for 494 cents, they weighed 255kg or $1260.

Bruce & Margaret McConnaughty of “Elstow”, who sold heavy Charolais heifers for 380 cents, they weighed 539kg to return $2048.

Stephen Pentes of “Wattle Vale” at Coonamble, sold Angus cows for 300 cents, they weighed 650kg to come back at $1950.

Matt & Rachel Adams of “St Louie” at Mendooran, sold unweaned Santa cross steers for 556 cents, they weighed 234kg and these well bred calves returned $1303.

Dennis & Tania Hall of “Mount Marion” at Binnaway, sold Devon steers to the butchers for 393 cents, they weighed 473kg and these well finished steers came back at $1862.

Kim Grattan of “Mentone” at Peak Hill, sold Angus steers for 495 cents, they weighed 353kg to return $1751.

David Hearn of “San Diego” at Narromine, sold heavy Angus steers to the feedlotters for 479 cents, they weighed 465kg to come back at $2232.

And for John & Mary Burley of “Woodlands Station” at Nyngan, who sold Angus steers to the feedlotters for 473 cents, they weighed 386kg to come back at $1827.

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report

Across to the lamb pens now where a good quality yarding met a softer market.  Most grades finished the week $5 to $8 cheaper.  Trade weight lambs made from $145 to $198. Heavy weight lambs made between $186 and $235. Heavy export lambs sold to a top of $270.  Merino lambs were $3 to $7 cheaper with trade weights making between $140 and $190.  Best heavy Merino lambs sold to a top of $201.

Carter Lindsay and Weber sold the following lambs for their clients –

Firstly out of Dubbo for David Campbell of “Oakdene”, who sold medium weight 1st cross lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 2 month skin for $172.

The Pilon Family of “Chloe”, sold extra heavy crossbred lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 1 inch skin for a sale topping $270.

Craig & Suzie McFetridge of “Tathra” at Collie, sold heavy trade weight crossbred lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 1 month skin for $197.

The Johnston Family of “Komoora” at Ponto, sold heavy trade weight 2nd cross lambs in a 3 score condition, with a 1 inch skin for $197.

And for Mark & Clare McConochie of “Mirilba” at Nyngan, who sold heavy crossbred wether lambs in a 3 score condition, one month off the board for $225.

Lastly the mutton market this week finished up to $10 cheaper.  There was a good line up of mutton on offer this with all regular buyers operating.  Medium weight ewes made from $98 to $158 with heavy ewes making between $160 and $255.  Heavy wethers sold to a top of $225.

Just a quick mutton quote this week for The Johnston Family of “Komoora” at Ponto, who sold medium weight Merino ewes in a 2 score condition, with a ½ inch skin for $138.
