Fat Cattle Report 

Good afternoon, this is Hugh Edwards taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 3rd week of November 2021.  Tallied numbers this week included –

 4000 fat cattle

12400 lambs
 4800 mutton

 Into the cattle pens firstly, where there was a mixed quality yarding on offer with good lines of young cattle for the processors, feeders and restockers alongside a fair selection of well finished grown cattle and only limited number of cows penned. 

Young kill cattle were firm with prime vealers selling to a top of 600c/kg.  Prime steer yearlings brought 485 – 680 cents and the prime yearling heifers made 450 - 580c/kg. Feeder steers and feeder heifers were unchanged with Feeder steers selling from 460 - 588c/kg while the feeder heifers made 440 - 560c/kg.  Young steers and bulls to the restock were firm to slightly dearer selling to a top of 800c/kg.  

Grown steers were 5 cents dearer and grown heifers were stable, with prime grown steers selling from 420 - 530c/kg while prime grown heifers brought 380 - 476c/kg.  Cows were dearer, with the medium 2 & 3 score cows selling from 340 - 380c/kg while the prime heavy weights made 385 - 419c/kg. 

 Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –

Firstly to Wilcannia for the Bennett family off “Dromore Station”, who sold heavy Shorthorn cows for 390 cents and weighed in at 735kg coming back at $2866.

To Nyngan now for the Menzies family off “Summerlea”, who sold well finished Angus steers that weighed 589kg bringing 459 cents and making $2705.

Across to Tottenham for Peter Hewett off “Hillview”, who sold well bred grain fed Angus cross steers for 450 cents, weighing 687kg coming back at $3093. On the same truck were well finished heavy Charolais cross cows that weighed 806kg making 419 cents, bringing $3379.

In the Geurie district for the Millner family off “Murrumbidgerie”, who sold well bred Charolais cross steers that weighed 515kg making 534 cents and coming back at over $2752.

Lastly in the same district for the Perry family off “Allandale”, who sold well finished Braham cross heifers for 474 cents, weighing up at 433kg making just over $2057. 

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report 

Into the lamb pens now, where it was a very mixed quality yarding with only a few pens of heavy weight lambs alongside limited well finished suckers.  There were still a big percentage of Merino lambs and hoggets throughout.  Trade weight new season lambs were $5 dearer selling for $155 - $245 to average between 815 - 865c/kg.  Trade old lambs were $10 dearer selling from $153 - $232.  Heavy weight lambs were $8 to $13 dearer with the lambs over 24kg selling from $226 - $283 to average 925 - 950c/kg.  A pen of heavy weight new season lambs sold for $296.  Merino lambs were firm with trade weights making from $148 - $204. 

 Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following lambs for their clients - 

Firstly to Tottenham for some ex agistment Merino wether lambs that were in a 2 & 3 score condition with an inch skin that made $160. 

To Warren now for the Johnstone family off “Mulwarree”, who sold Merino wether lambs  in a 2 score condition, freshly shorn for $152. 

In the Baradine district for Darren Beveridge off “Gleneve”, who sold fresh Dorper cross lambs in a 3 score condition for $175.

At Wellington for Paul Vernon off “Gunners Dam”, who sold well bred Merino wether lambs in a 2 & 3 score condition with a inch skin to the domestic kill for $148.

Lastly to Euchareena for Brian Brazier off “Wombang”, who sold fresh crossbred suckers in a 2 score condition, to the restocker orders for $158. 

 

Into the mutton pens now, where it was a mostly good quality yarding where all lines were dearer.  Ewes gained $10 - $15 with the Merino ewes selling from $130 - $225 and the crossbred ewes made $145 - $200.  Wethers were up to $20 dearer with the Merino’s selling from $140 - $224, while heavy crossbred wethers topped at $238.
