Fat Cattle Report

Good morning everyone, this is John Lindsay with a look at only the cattle sale for this week, due to the Anzac Day long weekend.  

 With widespread rain over the drawing area, there was approximately 900 cattle yarded on what was a mixed yarding, with the market in general firm for feeder and restocker cattle and 5 to 10 cents cheaper on export cattle.

 Light restocker cattle and mainly steers seeing sales between 470 to 540 cents for Bos Indicus drafts or 600 to 680 cents for fresh crossbred drafts, with the heifer portion seeing sales between 500 and 570 cents, with limited numbers to quote.  Feeder cattle were fully firm with the steer portion seeing sales between 440 and 616 cents, with the heifers 445 to 605 cents.  

 Into export sales, with export weight steers 410 to 460 cents, with heifers 430 to 500 cents.  Cows were cheaper between 5 and 10 cents, with medium weight cows 282 to 330 cents, with heavy high yielding cows seeing sales between 330 and 355 cents and topping at 366 cents for the pick.  

 Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients -

 For a local vendor, fresh Angus feeder heifers that weighed 320kg for 602 cents and these fresh heifers came back at $1920.

 For a Coolabah vendor, fresh Hereford cross steers to backgrounders for 650 cents, they weighed 260kg to come back at $1700, while the heifer portion weighed 245kg for 568 cents and they came back at $1400.

 For Clarry George of “Yulcarley Station” at Bourke, sold trim, Santa cross cows that weighed 600kg for 350 cents and these top cows came back at $2100, while Hereford cross steers on the same truck to feedlotters, that weighed 350kg for 522 cents, and they came back at $1810.

 While at Yantabulla for Mick & Michaela Fisher of “Kilberoo”, who sold trim Santa cross cows for 366 cents, they weighed 590kg and they came back at $2155, while on the same load, Santa cross heifers to feedlotters that weighed 430kg for 510 cents and they came back at $2190.
