Fat Cattle Report
Good morning, this is Hugh Edwards taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 4th week of April 2022. With the Easter long weekend impacting Monday’s sheep sale there was only a cattle sale this week. Tallied numbers this week included –
900 fat cattle and
1000 store cattle
Into the cattle pens, where there was a mixed quality yarding on offer with the large percentage being made up by young feeder and processor cattle. With a limited supply of grown steers and heifers alongside not many cows either.
Young kill cattle were firm with prime vealers selling to 615c/kg. Prime steer yearlings brought 460 – 606 cents and the prime yearling heifers made 448 - 600c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were 10 cents dearer with feeder steers selling from 500 - 625c/kg, while the feeder heifers made 470 - 590c/kg. Young restockers were firm selling to a top of 800c/kg for steers.
Grown steers and heifers were unchanged with the prime grown steers making 430 – 486c/kg. Prime grown heifers sold from 354 – 450c/kg. Cows were 5 – 10 cents cheaper, with the medium 2 & 3 score cows selling from 240 - 330c/kg, while the prime heavy weights made 340 - 376c/kg.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –
Firstly to Hungerford for the Fisher family of “Kilberoo”, who sold well bred Angus cross heifers for 506 cents, they weighed in at 507kg coming back at $2568.
Down the road to Nyngan for John & Mary Burley of “Woodlands Station”, who sold young restocker Angus cross steers that weighed 316kg, they made 608 cents, bringing $1925, on the same truck were Angus cross heifers that sold for 598 cents, weighing 295kg making $1764.
Lastly to Tottenham now for Justin & Kate O’Brien of “Oriel”, who sold a nice line of well bred Santa steers that weighed 640kg bringing 410 cents, making $2624.
Well that about wraps it up until next week.
