Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon this is Matt Weber with the weekly livestock market report from the Dubbo saleyards for the 2nd week of October.
There was only a fat cattle sale conducted this week due to the long weekend with 3400 cattle penned. There was no store cattle sale this week.
There was a mixed quality yarding of cattle on offer this week with a large influence of Bos Indicus and Bos Indicus cross cattle penned through the yarding. Young well finished trade cattle to the butchers were firm to 5 cents dearer with most steers making from 390 to 444 cents. The heifer portion sold to a top of 438 cents. Feeder steers were firm to 4 cents cheaper on last week’s rates making between 357 to 424 cents. This was mainly due to a lesser quality yarding of feeder steers on offer this week. Feeder heifers made between 334 to 403 cents. There were less light restocker type cattle on offer this week with the best of the steers selling to a top of 485 cents and the heifers making up to 449 cents.
Grown steers and bullocks were fully firm with young bullocks making between 368 to 390 cents per kg. The aged bullocks sold to a top of 382 cents. Grown heifers made between 329 to 377 cents per kg.
