Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon everybody, this is John Lindsay with a look at this week’s livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 3 rd week of July.
Tallied numbers this week included:
2200 fat cattle
23000 lambs
4900 sheep
Into the cattle pens firstly, where it was a good quality yarding with most categories well represented. The market in general was firm to 5c dearer on the trade kill cattle with feeder steers also enjoying dearer trends of up to 10c with feeder heifers 426c with cows 5 to 8c cheaper.
Light vealer steers to restockers 435 to 665c, vealer heifers also light 390 to 585c. Yearling steers under 400kg to feed lotters 366 to 408 generally and topping at 425 with trade kill weights 350 to 410. Heavier drafts over 400kg to the feed lotters 380 to 419 with kill drafts 370 to 420.
Yearling heifers under 400kg to kill 355 to 384 with feeder drafts 356 to 396. Limited export weight steers to quote 310 to 390. Light boner cows to restockers 265 to 320c. medium weights to restockers 250 to 314 or 272 to 282 to kill with heavy high yielding cows 276 to 296 and topping at 309.
Carter Lindsay & Weber had the following cattle results for their clients:
For a Geurie vendor, Angus cross cows that weighed 610kg for 292c and they came back at $1790 while Hereford cross cows on the same truck that weighed 610kg also made 300c and they came back at $1830.
While for the Kirby family at Molong who sold Charolais x feeder heifers for 386c in which they weighed 375kg and came back at $1445.
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now, where there was a larger number on offer, but bearing in mind the rain effected market last week. The market however was very tough with lightweight lambs up to $5 cheaper trade lambs up to $25 cheaper with export weights $15 to $20 cheaper and could have been more in places with merino lambs also seeing very similar losses.
Suckers firstly, light trade weights $155 to $165 with trade weights $169 to $180. Into older xb light kill types up to 18kg dressed $128 to $165 medium trade weights $146 to $171 heavy trade weights $150 to $175 light export $150 to $183 with super heavies $165 to $194 with this week’s top price being $214.
To Merino sales light kill types up to 16kg dressed $103 to $128 up to 18kg dressed $118 to $150. Heavy trade weights $142 to $160 with export weights $146 to $177 generally with super heavies $160 to $185.

For Phil Hubbard off “Kainga” who sold 2nd X lambs with a quarter inch skin in a 4 score condition for $170.
The Galley family off “Oakdale” sold export weight 1 st X lambs with a half inch skin and these top lambs made $183.
For the Whale Family off “Glenroy” at Wellington who sold 2nd X lambs to the trade butchers with a half inch skin for $170.
For the O’Connor family who sold heavy export weight lambs with a 6 week skin and these top lambs made $205.
The Cosgrove family off “Lauriston” sold Dohne lambs with a 6 week skin to the exporters for $173.
At Baradine for Darren Beveridge who sold trade weight Dorper lambs in a 3 score condition for $152.
Finlay family off “Kinross” sold light export Dorper lambs in a 3 score condition for $158.
David and Wendy Pickette who sold light trade weight Merino wether lambs with a ½ inch skin for $138.
While for Warick Worrell who sold export weight 1 st X lambs with a ½ inch skin and they made $184.
Into the mutton pens where like the lambs it was a cheaper market of $8 to $10 across all categories. Light boner ewes $96 to $111. Medium weights $111 to $145 for Merinos or $130 to $143 for XB. Heavy weight Merino ewes $145 to $187 or $145 to $175 for XB with super heavy weights over 30kg dressed for XB $165 to $214. Boner wethers $136 to $160. Medium weights $160 to $174 with export weights mainly XB $180 to $210.
