Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon, this is Campbell Rose taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 3rd week of April, 2025.
It is a short week this week with no cattle sale Thursday due to the Easter Break.
Tallied numbers this week included –
12300 lambs and
9900 mutton
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens where it was a very plain quality yarding with only odd pens of well finished trade weight and heavy weight lambs. A large percentage of the yarding were secondary lightweight lambs from the far west.
Lightweight lambs to the processors were $14 cheaper, with the 2 score lambs under 18kg selling from $72 - $137.
Trade lambs were to $12 dearer, selling from $145 - $224.
Heavy weight lambs were $20 dearer, selling from $190 - $258
With the extra heavy’s over 30kg selling from $260 - $286.
Merinos were$20 dearer with trade weights selling from $116 - $190. Lambs to the restockers were cheaper with crossbreds selling from $67 - $138.
Crossbred hoggets sold to $190.
Into the mutton pens now, which was a mixed yarding and the job was $25 - $40 softer. Not all the usual buyers were present which reflected on the price falls.
Merino ewes sold from $40 - $152.
Crossbred ewes sold from $69 to $160.
Merino wethers sold from $70 - $175, while crossbred wethers sold to $176.
Restocker ewes were cheaper selling from $74 - $138.
Carter Lindsay and Weber sold the following lambs and sheep for some of their clients -
Firstly, The Whillock Family of ‘Maxland’ at Geurie, who sold heavy vendor bred bare shorn crossbred lambs for $270.
Dave Campbell at Dubbo, sold trade weight crossbred lambs for $192.
The McKay Family of ‘Winnabri’ at Trangie, sold trade weight Merino lambs for $174.
Peter & Debbie Pearce of “Gollen Field” at Nyngan, sold crossbred wethers for $148.
And lastly, The Reid Family of ‘Kimbriki Western’ at Coolabah, who sold Merino ewes for $113.
