Fat Cattle Report

Good Good afternoon, this is Hugh Edwards taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 3rd week of June 2022.

Tallied numbers this week included –

2000 fat cattle

Into the cattle pens, where there was a fair quality yarding that saw good numbers of weaners and yearlings with a big portion lacking finish. There was also odd pens of yearlings to suit the feeders alongside a good number of well finished grown steers. With a limited number of cows penned.

Young kill cattle were firm to 5c dearer with prime vealers topping at 616c/kg. Prime steer yearlings brought from 538c - 610c and the prime yearling heifers made 530 - 600c/kg. Feeder steers and heifers were unchanged with feeder steers selling from 465 - 620c/kg while the feeder heifers made 450c - 590c/kg.

Young restockers were 20c cheaper selling to a top of 696c/kg for steers and 650c/kg for heifers. Grown steers and heifers were 10c cheaper with the prime grown steers bringing 370 – 486c/kg while the heifers sold from 380 – 480c/kg.

Cows were 5 - 7c cheaper, with the medium 2 & 3 score cows selling from 250 -346c/kg while the prime heavy weights made 345 - 382c/kg to average around 360c/kg.

Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –

Firstly to Brewarrina for the Carter family off “Wongal”, who sold, large frame Santa cows for 350c/kg and weighed in at 568kg coming back at $1989/head.

To Bourke now for the Williams family, who sold, heavy Hereford cross cows that weighed 590kg bringing 358c/kg making $2112/head.

Lastly to warren for the Mclaughlin family off “Merryanbone North”, who sold, a nice line of well bred Angus cross heavy feeder steers that made 480c/kg weighing 516kg bringing $2476/head.
