Fat Cattle Report
Good morning, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 4th week of June 2022. Tallied numbers this week included –
2200 fat cattle
20000 lambs and
15000 mutton.
Into the cattle pens firstly where a plainer quality yarding had an impact on prices, with only a few pens of yearlings to suit feedlotters and processors. Good numbers of weaners to suit the restockers. Grown steers and heifers were well supplied, however not all were properly finished and all selections of cows were on offer as the usual buyers were in attendance and operating.
Young cattle to the trade were 10 cents cheaper with quality the factor. Prime yearlings sold from 464 to 580c/kg. Light and medium weight feeder cattle were firm while the limited number of heavy feeders eased 8 cents. Feeder steers ranged from 420 – 622 cents, while feeder heifers sold from 430 - 582c/kg.
Grown steers and heifers remained firm with the steer portion selling from 410 - 475c/kg and the heifer portion selling from 430 - 475c/kg. Cows were 9 cents cheaper with the better drafts ranging from 345 - 372c/kg. The best heavy bull reached a top of 341 cents.
