Fat Cattle Report

Good afternoon this is Steve Gay taking a look at the markets from Dubbo for the week.

Into yesterdays cattle market now where a total of 2000 good quality cattle were sold. Carter Lindsay and Weber were 10th sale. The yarding mainly consisted of younger cattle to the backgrounders and feedlots. Cows were pretty scarce throughout the offering and were much dearer like most other categories.

There is still a huge demand for lighter younger cattle back to the paddock, however yesterdays sale saw very few light cattle offered. 

Medium weight feeder steers topped at 414c/kg, heifers to the feed topped at 389c/kg.

Heavy cows topped at 302c, with most other grades to the processors averaging between 262c-278c/kg.

Trade weight cattle to the butchers topped at 378c for steers and 375c for heifers.

The Coonamble High School sold ex show steers. The limo x steers weighed 570kgs, sold for 355c and returned $2023.

The Hughes family from Baldry sold large framed Shorthorn cows in very forward  condition for 290c, 508kgs, $1470.

Ryan Johnston from Geurie sold fat shorthorn cows for 299c, 751kgs, $2248.

Ross and Lynette Robbins from Fifield, sold Angus cross steers in plain condition for 350c, 235kgs, $824.

Paul Vernon from Wellington sold light trade weight heifers out of the feedlot for 373c, 321kgs, $1200.

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report

The sheep sale on Monday saw a total yarding of 8000 lambs and 4000 mutton.

Most grades of sheep were well represented in a dearer market.

Heavy lambs were well sought after and gained $10-$15 a head. The shortage of heavier lines of mutton continue to lift prices by as much as $20 a head. 

Very light lambs to the restockers averaged $110, the better quality store lambs to restockers averaged between $147 and $165.

Finished trade weight lamb averaged between $211-237. 

Export weight lambs averaged between $250-277, and a pen of heavy export lambs with an estimated weight of 36kg dressed, topped at $338.

4 score Xb ewes topped at $260.

3 and 4 score medium weight Merino ewes averaged between $149 and $188. 

Light 2 score Merino ewes with a short skin sold from $90-$116 a head.

Carter lindsay & Weber sold the following stock for their clients,

Adam Harvey from Gulgong sold medium trade weight Aussie White lambs for $175.

Cameron and Kylie Beard from Geurie sold some 4 score export weight first x lambs out of the feedlot for $270.

Pinehill Pastoral company from Molong sold medium trade weight 3 score wooly lambs for $215.

The Elder family from Girilambone sold 4 score Xb hoggets for $220.
