Fat Cattle Report

Good afternoon, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 1st week of October, 2022.

There was no sheep and lamb market on Monday due to the long weekend, so into the cattle pens where 2600 fat cattle were yarded.  Cows, grown steers and grown heifers were well supplied and there were good numbers of feeders available.

Young cattle to the processors remained firm with vealers selling to 550c/kg.  Feeder steers also held firm to sell from 490 - 586c/kg.  Feeder heifers sold from 480 - 554c/kg.  A better selection of young cattle to suit the restockers were 20 cents dearer, with young steers reaching a top of 772c/kg and the heifer portion selling to 703c/kg.

Grown steers sold from 430 - 504c/kg, while grown heifers sold from 428 - 462c/kg.  Cows were 10 cents stronger with the better heavy cows selling from 388 - 429c/kg.  The best heavy bull reached a top of 394c/kg.

Carter Lindsay and Weber sold the following cattle for some of their clients -

Locally for the Jones Family of ‘Fairview’, who sold Angus cross cows for 402 cents, weighing 552kg to come back at $2222.

The Pascoe family of ‘Bell River Farm’ at Bakers Swamp, sold Angus steers for 644 cents, weighing 315kg to return $2029.

The Deshon Family of ‘Rocklee’ at Wellington, sold heavy Angus cows for 415 cents, weighing a massive 825kg to come back at $3423.

Bonnie Millner of ‘Geurie Homestead’, sold Angus Steers for 500 cents, they weighed 550kg to return $2750.

Emma Hegarty of ‘Belvedere’ at Cassilis, sold 2 tooth Angus Heifers for 516.2 cents, weighing 436kg to return $2251.

Graham & Annette Markey of ‘Lancelot’ at Tooraweenah, sold milk tooth Angus steers for 500 cents, weighing 564kg to come back at $2822.

The Richardson family of ‘Karamea’ at Trangie, sold milk tooth Angus heifers for 500 cents, they weighed 481kg and returned $2408.

And for The Burley Family of ‘Woodlands Station’ at Nyngan, who sold Angus steers, off their mothers for 580 cents, weighing 350kg to come back at $2030.
