Fat Cattle Report
Good Afternoon this is Shaun McHugh with a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 2nd week of August.
Tallied numbers this week included –
2600 Fat cattle
10000 Lambs
1600 Mutton
Into the cattle pens where good numbers of prime young cattle along with some well finished grown steers and heifers were on offer, while the usual buyers were in attendance and operating in a dearer market along with additional re-stocker interest from the South.
Kill cattle, particularly the trade weights, 4 to 7 cents dearer with the export drafts dearer again for the younger bullocks. Re-stocker cattle were stronger again selling from 351 to 455 cents for the steers, 341 to 422 cents for the heifers. Trade kill weight steers 382 to 423 cents and the heifers ranging from 370 to 400 cents.
Feeder steers remained firm this week selling from 370 to 410 cents with heifers making from 345 to 388 cents. Export steers 350 to 402 cents on the younger end while bullocks and 4/6 tooth 360 to 382 cents. Cows were strong again this week with boner cows selling from 240 to 273 cents, medium weights 265 to 285 cents with heavy weights making from 280 and 310 cents.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle this week –
Locally for the Clatworthy Family of ‘Mia Mia’ at Dubbo who sold Angus steers for 403 cents, weighing 545kg to return $2100.
To Wellington now for Sam & Penny Deshon of ‘Rocklee’ who sold Angus cows for 305 cents weighing 694kg to return $2100.
For the Grattan Family of ‘Pine Park’ sold Angus steers for 380 cents, weighing 585kg to return $2200.
For the White Family of ‘Cardington’ at Molong sold Santa cross heifers for 393 cents, weighing 395kg to return $1553.
And lastly for the Young Family of ‘Pinegrove’ at Nyngan who sold 2 tooth Angus bullocks for 402 cents, weighing 566kg to return $2200
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now where numbers reduced due to some good rainfall over the weekend. A good quality was on offer with heavy and trade weights in good supply with limited numbers of suckers on offer.
Light crossbred lambs remained firm to sell from $122 to $136 while light Merino lambs topped at $123. Trade weights lifted slightly, $5 in places, with crossbreds selling from $140 to $165 with the Merinos ranging from $136 to $148.
Heavy weights remained firm selling from $162 to $189 with suckers limited in numbers this week selling from $146 to $162.
Into the mutton pens now where light and medium weights were cheaper while heavy mutton was slightly dearer.

Medium weight ewes $112 to $148
Heavy weight ewes $149 to $168
Light wethers $106 to $125
Medium weight wethers $135 to $160
Heavy wethers $165 to $183

For the Walters Family of ‘Plain Creek’ at Wongarbon who sold 2nd cross suckers in a 3 score condition to the supermarket orders for $147.
And for the Taylor Family of ‘Gunnegalerie’ who sold Merino ewes in a 3 score condition with a ½ inch skin for $165.
