Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the last sales in Dubbo for 2020. Tallied numbers this week included –
97 fat cattle, yes only 97 fat cattle
9500 lambs and
4500 mutton
Into the cattle pens firstly, young cattle to the trade were a little dearer with prime vealers selling to 406c/kg. Prime steer yearlings sold to 408c/kg while the prime heifer yearlings sold from 386c to 429c/kg.
A couple of lots of steer feeders sold for 389c/kg. Restockers were active on suitable lots paying from 398 to 421c/kg for young steers and 355 to 520c/kg for young heifers. Cows sold to 266c/kg and the best heavy bull reached 236c/kg.
Just a quick quote for Terry & Marie Johnson of “Collerina” at Nyngan, who sold Angus steers for 408 cents, weighing 432kg to return $1765.
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now in what was a mixed quality yarding with good numbers of trade and heavy weight lambs penned. Trade weight lambs were $5 to $10 dearer with suckers making from $142 to $200 and old lambs selling from $157 to $198. Heavy weight lambs were $10 dearer selling from $194 to $260 while the extra heavies sold to a top of $272.
Merino lambs were $5 cheaper with quality the factor. Trade weights sold from $148 to $180 while the heavy weights sold to $194. The best heavy hoggets sold to $210.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following lambs for their clients -
The Whillock Family of “Maxland” at Geurie, sold crossbred lambs in 4 score condition to the export orders for $255.
Bruce & Margaret McConaughty of “Elstow” at Baradine, sold Merino lambs in a 3 score condition for $182.
And for John Menzies of “Summerlea” at Nyngan, who sold Merino lambs in a 2 & 3 score condition for $171.
A mixed yarding of mutton was on offer with a large selection of plainer secondary types. The market was cheaper across all grades.
Light weight ewes ranged from $66 to $102.
Medium weight ewes ranged from $115 to $145.
Heavy weight ewes ranged from $151 to $185.
Light weight wethers ranged from $115 to $135
Medium weight wethers ranged from $139 to $160
Heavy weight wethers ranged from $170 to $188.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following mutton for their clients -
Craig & Kerry Walters of “Plain Creek at Wongarbon, sold Merino ewes in a 3 score condition for $166.
Skimmer & Roz George of “The Corners” at Nyngan sold Merino ewes in a 2 score condition and a half inch skin for $134.
And for Jon & Helen Matchett of “Budgery” at Hermidale, who sold heavy crossbred wethers to the export orders for $180.

From 1 January 2021, only the updated versions of all NVDs (0720) will be accepted for all species.
A reminder to order NVDs now as delivery can take up to 6 weeks.
New NVD books can be ordered through the LPA service centre, using LPA log in details.
As part of the MLA Accelerated Adoption Initiative announced in November 2019, there is no cost for LPA NVD books until 30 June 2021.
